Pine Needlers
The Pine Needlers Quilting Group is a non-profit organization in the greater Heber-Overgaard AZ area that is dedicated, first and foremost, to the art of quilt-making. No experience sewing or quilting is required in order to join our group.
We meet at Faith Lutheran Church, 2750 Mogollon Drive, Overgaard AZ. Drop in for Open Sew starting at 9 AM; please plan on helping set-up sewing equipment and staying afterwards to clean up & take down our extra equipment when done. NOTE: The first Monday of each month is when we hold our business meeting and sewing machines stay at home, and there are no meetings during December. In the summertime we have over 60 active members of varying skill levels. We enjoy working on our own projects at open-sew time and take great joy in helping & encouraging one another. Many of the more-experienced members will hold classes or demos to share their knowledge with others who want to learn new tricks. We work hard all year to prepare for our Pine Needlers Annual Quilt Show and Best of The Rim Boutique & Bake Sale which is two days, Friday & Saturday of Labor Day weekend. It is our primary fund-raising activity, and each of our creative and generous members contribute in some way to help facilitate this large, successful, well-lit display of beautiful quilts. The membership completes one raffle quilt as a group project each year, which is then randomly awarded to one lucky winner after random selection of the winning raffle ticket. The money we raise has helped support many community organizations in Heber-Overgaard and the White Mountains including Rim Country Community Center, Rim Community Library, Community Food Pantry, local schools, Santa’s Kids, Chamber of Commerce Fireworks Fund, Salvation Army, and Safe House as well as the making of Military Quilts and Community Quilts. We are able to accomplish this through dues, fundraising, donations, grants, and revenue from our Quilt Show. |
